In 1994 I purchased a set of Klipsch 5.5 speakers. They were the best I could afford at the time. The sound out of these things is spectacular. They are bright and hard. Great for rock and also surprisingly sweet with classical. The brightness can be controlled with the positioning of the speaker.

I have heard of people getting these used for around $300. If you can find them for that price, get them. These are terrific speakers and do not require a large amp to power. I plan to keep mine for quite some time.
