Twenty years ago my father bought me a pair of Sony MDR-V4 headphones. The headphones were terrific and I used them constantly for over ten years. Two years ago I decided I wanted a new pair of headphones to replace the earbuds that come with the iPod since the sound quality is so poor. Size was not a factor because most of my listening would be at home. Now I just needed to find a nice pair of headphones to get.

I started by looking online at sites such as Amazon.com and Head-Fi.com. Both sites were great at explaining the pros and cons of the different headphones I had to choose from. After spending a week reading the reviews and looking at the prices, I decided to go with a pair of Sony MDR-V6s. The largest reason for my choice was my past experience with the MDR-V4s. The MDR-V6s are comfortable, have great sound quality and didn’t cost a fortune. The headphones are well respected in the entertainment industry. For years they have been the headphone of choice for recording engineers.

The V6s have served me well for the last couple of years and hopefully they will continue to serve me well into the future.
