About 6 months ago, I purchased a Sandisk Cruzer from a family member. They had purchased the drive using a rebate, but never needed it. It sat around still sealed and was never used. While at their house, I asked if they wanted to sell since they had no plans to use it. They agreed and I had myself a new flash drive.

The drive seemed nice and worked exactly as I had foreseen. It was slow to write, but most of the other drives I have had were the same. It seemed built well enough. Touch plastic protected the delicate inside memory chips. A retractable flash port continues to be one of my favorite features of the Sandisk drives. This not only makes the drive smaller, but keeps the port safe from breakage.

The drive has served me well for the last 6 months. I have upgraded to a 16GB Corsair Flash Voyager and prefer the Flash Voyager to the Sandisk. The Voyager is much faster at writing than the Sandisk. The only thing I can give the Sandisk a point for when placed up against the Corsair is the retractable USB port.

If you can get a Sandisk at a great price, don’t pass it up. It will serve you well, but don’t expect it to perform like higher end OCZ or Kingston flash drive.
